SAN FRANCISCO — It’s a stainless steel piece of equipment that’s already been used by thousands of people in the U.S. and around the world.
Now, it’s being used to anchor a tree.
The tree is being anchored with stainless steel to a steel anchor that’s been coated with a protective coating made of silver and gold.
The steel is being installed in a container at the corner of the San Francisco Bay, in a place where other anchorages have fallen to the elements.
The anchor, which measures about 1.2 feet (0.8 meters) tall, weighs about 2,400 pounds (1,200 kilograms).
